Indoor Deep Deating Cushions

Wicker furniture has been around for centuries. Sturdy and beautifully crafted wicker products make a room feel cozy and inviting. Wicker chairs are especially popular as both outdoor and indoor furniture, but it’s the look and feel of the cushion that makes the chair. Choosing the right cushions and caring for them is important to maintain the overall quality and aesthetics of wicker chairs. This includes selecting the right fabric for indoor, as opposed to outdoor wicker chair cushions, cleaning and keeping them intact, and finally replacing worn covers, or the entire cushion when needed.

Choosing The Right Wicker Cushions

When buying cushions for your wicker chairs first consider where they will be used. If it’s indoor wicker chairs you have, select cushions made of cotton or polyester materials, as opposed to acrylic fabric, which is best for outdoor use where the elements, (and rougher handling), can wreak havoc on them. It will make caring for them easier. Choosing removable cushion covers will also facilitate their care, as they could be easily taken off, cleaned, or changed.

How To Clean Your Indoor Wicker Cushions

The first step in caring for your wicker cushions is cleaning them on a regular basis. This involves gently removing dirt and grime from the fabric by either removing the cushion cover and washing it in the washer, or wiping it down using a sponge dipped in warm water and some mild liquid detergent. Do not immerse the entire cushion in water! Doing so may create unwanted mold within the material causing permanent damage, and significantly reducing the life span of your cushions. To remove mold and mildew you may use a bit of all-fabric bleach (or regular bleach for white cushions) in the water/detergent mixture. Take care to not soak the cushion, but use a damp sponge to gently clean the surface. You may use a nylon scrubber to remove tougher stains. Air dry the cushions thoroughly before replacing them on the wicker chairs.
